THIS Thursday night the annual Forsythes Collectors Care Art Exhibition will open at the Front Room Gallery at the Newcastle Art School (TAFE).

This year's exhibition will run until June 15, but the artworks will go on sale on Thursday night, with 40 per cent of the proceeds going to the Samaritans to fund various programs in the Hunter.

The works are priced up to $1000 and the artists include staff from the Newcastle Art School at TAFE and from the University of Newcastle, along with selected individual artists.

In all, more than 60 artists will be exhibiting including Natalie Sherring, Rod Bathgate, Ros Elkin and Vera Zulumovski.

Entry to the open night and auction is $10 a person and registrations for the auction will be taken from 2pm on Thursday.
